THIS was the assignment:
and THIS is what I made:
So what was the point of this image? I tried to boil down five major things about myself that I think that my classmates should know about what makes me me:
C: I’m a big sports fan, but the true love of my life is Kansas City Chiefs football. Even though I have to wake up really early to watch them play live (1am on Monday mornings!), I haven’t missed but one game in 4 years of living in Taiwan. I always tell people that I love my wife and my team the same amount, but I loved them first, “so don’t make me choose.” She’s not crazy about that joke.
W: It took me a long time to realize it, but every William Shakespeare piece that I read fills me with SO much excitement. Shakespeare is one of those things that I love to teach to students, and I take it as a personal challenge to motivate my students to get into the Bard and learn from him!
E: Evernote is easily the most important thing on my computer—it runs my to-do list, my classroom, and my life!—but really, it’s more about how much I truly enjoy technology. There’s so many things I depend on every day that are tech-based, and I hope to bring an awareness of apps, web resources, and other services to help benefit my classmates.
B1: This one is a stretch, but that image is what I found when I looked for “Christmas Boats“. My wife and I absolutely love traveling, and after our first stressful year in Taiwan, we made it a personal goal of spending Christmas every year on a boat in a nice, warm place. Traveling has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve ever experienced, and I hope that others get the opportunity to see the world like I’ve been fortunate enough to!
B2: Finally, my absolute favorite place to be in the world is in the classroom with my students, and it is my personal goal to always be the Best teacher I possibly can be! While I know it ultimately boils down to student-learning and not teacher-instructing, I feel like it’s my duty to motivate students and get them excited to be the best they can be!
So that’s me in a nutshell! I’m looking forward to meeting and working with my instructor and classmates to have a great semester!
